2.1.1 Partnership with CPB (Brazilian Paralympics Committee) and IPC
From 2014 on, YESCOM, CPB – BRAZILIAN PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE and IPC (International Paralympics Committee) have agreed on a partnership for the SÃO PAULO INTERNATIONAL MARATHON and RIO DE JANEIRO INTERNATIONAL HALF MARATHON, through which new guidance has been established to regulate the participation of DISABLED ATHLETES in street marathons
This new regulation is based on IPC Classification Rules to define the competition classification for the DISABLED ATHLETE category, which are available at the CPB website www.cpb.org.br
This new guidance for street marathons aims to promote equity among ATHLETES with the same disability during competitions held amongst several functional levels, the same way it is currently applied to competitions held on athletics running tracks.
During the 24th SÃO PAULO INTERNATIONAL MARATHON, ATHLETES registered under the DISABLED ATHLETE category will compete according to the regulation published on YESCOM website – Item 2.1 – letter d; however, ATHLETES who are already classified based on IPC rules, will retain their records valid for the CPB National Raking (Athletes with National Classification) and IPC International Raking (Athletes with international Classification), as long as they are regularly registered and licensed by these entities.
Information about registering and licensing might be obtained by emailing ricardo.melo@cpb.org.br.
ATHLETES, who are not nationally or internationally classified yet, might have this opportunity during the 24th SÃO PAULO INTERNATIONAL MARATHON, where examining boards will be provided to proceed with classification by pre-requesting those for the ATHLETES registered in the competition.
To request national and/or international classification, the ATHLETE must email at classificacao@cpb.org.br after his/her registration to the 24th SÃO PAULO INTERNATIONAL MARATHON is approved, informing his/her interest on being classified by the examining boards. Such request must be emailed by February 02, 2018, and the ATHLETES who do not email their requests within that timeframe can compete, but will not have a national or international classification defined for the competition.
For more information about Classification during regionals of the “Circuito Brasil Caixa Loterias”, the ATHLETE may email CPB at circuito@cpb.org.br.
